Literacy: (20 minutes)
Magazine Letter Hunt
Beginning:
Today for a small group, we’re going to be looking at old magazines and flyers from supermarkets.

Look in a magazine for letters you know. Highlight them, cut and paste them on a paper to create a collage.

· I wonder how many ‘L or name any other letter’ you have found?
· You can say ”Oh, I found my letter” (Your child will be encouraged to find his/ her own)
· Acknowledge your child’s work by stating what they are doing.
· Offer your child (safe) scissors, allow them to cut what they want and place them in a bowl or basket.
· Ask your child, “What do you think we can do with these letters?”
· Offer them a glue stick and a piece of paper.
End:

Count the number of steps you take from your room to the kitchen.
Fine motor skills: (10 minutes)
Play dough play
Playdough ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour.
- 3/4 cup salt.
- 4 teaspoons cream of tartar (optional, will give playdoh more 'stretch')
- 2 cups lukewarm water.
- 2 Tablespoons of vegetable oil (coconut oil works too)
- Food colouring, optional.
- Mix and knead until consistent in texture
