Activity One


Literacy (20 minutes)


Wiggly Worms! 
Materials needed:
computer, colored paper, stick/ straw, wiggly eyes/ marker, scissor.

Beginning: Remind your child of the letter for this week “Ww”. Ask them, “I wonder what activity we are doing to do now?”

Middle:

· Accept different answers

· Play the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oes1PE58WQE

· Discuss the author and the illustrator’s work.

· Ask “What other ways can we use to keep our story books neat and clean?”

· Acknowledge their answers.

· Ask the child to give some rhyming words (from the story or made up words)

Extension: The child can create a wiggly worm. Check the link below to have an idea but don’t copy it.. BE CREATIVE :)





End: Give your child a 5 minutes warning. Ask if s/he would like to send a picture of the wiggly worm to their teacher.




Activity Two


Math (10 minutes)


Fruit count 
Materials needed: apples, bananas (or any fruits available at home) (not more than 10 each), pencil and paper






Beginning: Tell your child, “Today we are going to use apples and bananas in our activity, what do you think the activity will be about?

Middle:

· Be open to all answers

· Create/ print the graph paper

· Ask your child to count how many apples and bananas are there

· You may ask which fruit is more and which is less?

· Color each square in accordance, for example there are 5 apples, the child colors 5 squares.

· Read the graph, for example, bananas are more than apples by 2 pieces.

Extension:
You can ask your child to write the numbers they got using tally marks.

End: Give 5 minutes warning. Ask your child to help in tidying up.




Activity Three

Fine motor skills (5 minutes)


Materials:
a jacket/ shirt with buttons, or create your own felt material and buttons.

Ask your child to create a chain by doing the buttons and then s/he can unbutton

Materials needed for next week
  • Baking soda, vinegar, brown paint
  • Art materials and materials from the kitchen
  • Please start collecting cartons, toilet rolls, tissue boxes etc.  Anything which can be recycled as we get ready for Earth Day!
  • Number cards and yarn
